Faculty Dining Room Policies and Procedures


All Meals will be served meals ordered from the established Faculty and Staff Dining Room Menu. Orders will be taken by formal wait staff. All meals must be ordered from the menu. Special dietary needs, including Halal and Kosher meals can be provided upon request. With the exception of special dietary needs, pre-orders and take out orders will not be allowed. We would appreciate a 24 hour notice for any special dietary needs.


The Faculty and Staff Dining Rooms at Russell Sage Dining Hall will be open Monday- Friday 11:30 am to 1:30 pm during the academic year.

*Service may be suspended on any given day due to presidential events or any large catering event. Notice will of course be given in advance.*


Reservations for the Faculty and Staff Dining Rooms at Rensselaer may be made by Faculty and Staff members of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Reservations can be made by calling the Faculty and Staff dining reservation line at 276-3862. You may leave your reservation in the voice mailbox. If there is a problem with the reservation taken off of the voice mailbox, we will call you back as soon as possible. The reservation line will be answered live Monday-Friday 9am-4pm.

Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Groups less than 12 will be assigned a table in the Center Meeting Room depending upon availability. Groups greater than 12 will be assigned a table in the Russell Sage Banquet Room (formerly Fac/Staff), again based upon availability. Semi-Private partitions may be requested for your table in the main dining room only. Please give us that information with your reservation. Reservations may be made up to 3 months in advance. Reservations are subject to be cancelled at any time. We will call the contact person with information if this situation arises.

Use of the Russell Sage Banquet Room

The Russell Sage Banquet Room can be used for private or semi-private functions at any time during the year. Reservations must be made by a person with direct affiliation to the Institute (Faculty, Staff, and Alumni only). To reserve this room, please call the catering office at 276-6109. If requested, the room may be held as “private” for groups of 40 or more. For groups of less than 40, the room will be reserved as semi-private, with room dividers separating your group from other groups.

The Center Meeting Room and Fishbach Room will be dedicated as the Faculty and Staff Dining Rooms and will not be available for catered functions at lunch. The Russell Sage Banquet Room can accommodate up to 216 guests for a served meal, and 192 guests for a buffet. This capacity doesn’t include room for staging or dance floors. Call the catering office directly with room capacity concerns. Hospitality Services Catering Department can provide set-up and any food needs to accommodate your function.
