Dining Plans

Enjoy the convenience and savings of campus dining! 

Benefits of being on a Dining Plan:

  • Additional meal plans - giving you more choice.
  • Guest meals included with every meal plan (except CYO)!
  • Ability to add additional flex throughout the year, with bonus incentives!
  • Discounted Door Rate if using flex: $8.00 for lunch, brunch or dinner and $5.00 for breakfast.

2017-2018 Dining Plans

Plans available to all students:

  • 23 On Demand: 23 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $100 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes 12 Guest Meals per semester. Non-transferrable. Available to all students.  $6,480/year
  • 21 On Demand: 21 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $200 Flex Dollars per year. Includes 12 Guests Meals per semester.  Non-transferable.  Available to all students.  $6,480 /year
  • 19 On Demand: 19 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $300 Flex Dollars per year. Includes 10 Guest Meals per semester.  Non-transferable.  Available to all students.  $6,370/year
  • 15 On Demand: 15 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $500 Flex Dollars for the year. Includes 10 Guest Meals per semester.  Non-transferable.  Available to all students.  $6,300/year

Plans available to Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students:

  • 12 On Demand: 12 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $700 Flex Dollars per year. Includes 8 Guest Meals per semester.  Non-transferable.  Available to sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. $5,660/year
  • 10 On Demand: 10 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $900 Flex Dollars per year. Includes 8 Guest Meals per semester.  Non-transferable. Available to sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students.  $5,480/year
  • CYO "Create Your Own" Plan: 200 meals per semester. Dining Plan holder may also choose to convert meals into Flex Dollars.  Additional restrictions apply. Conversion rate is $8.65 per meal. Conversion of meals into Flex Dollars must be completed by Friday, October 6, 2017 for the fall semester. No more than two conversion submissions will be accepted per student per semester. Unused meals will be forfeited at the end of each semester; however, Flex Dollars will carry over from fall into spring semester. Non-transferable.  Available only to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students living on- or off-campus and to those undergraduate students living in an approved Greek Residence. $4,970/year 

Plans available to Graduate Students and Greek Residence:

  • 5 on Demand Greeks and Grads: Five anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $600 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes 2 Guest Meals per semester.  Non-transferable. Available to RAs, graduate students, off-campus students or those undergraduate students living in an approved Greek Residence.  $2,540/year

Note: Each plan features Flex Dollars which are yours to spend like cash at Hospitality Services locations. Flex Dollars are allotted by semester and carry over from the Fall to Spring Semester, but end on the last day of the academic calendar and are thereafter forfeited. Flex Dollars are also forfeited upon cancellation of the meal plan.

Flex Dollars is another feature adding value to your dining plans. Various amounts of Flex Dollars are incorporated into dining plans. Flex Dollars is yours to spend like cash at Hospitality Service locations in the Rensselaer Union, retail cafés around campus, concessions, Fathers and BARH Marketplace.

You can also use your Flex Dollars to treat your family and friends to a meal in a dining hall, or to enjoy some of our specials like the Student Catering program and cakes or gift sales. As an additional value, Flex Dollars are tax exempt on all food and drink related purchases. They are allotted by semester and carry over from fall to spring, but end on the last day of the academic calendar and are non-refundable.

Alternative Meal Allowances

If extenuating circumstances such as illness or scheduling conflicts prevent the use of the dining halls for meals, you may request a boxed meal be provided for you by completing a meal request form. If you are requesting a meal due to scheduling conflicts, you must attach a copy of your current class schedule along with your request. Please note: if you fail to pick up your meals three consecutive times, we will automatically cancel your request.

RAD (Rensselaer Advantage Dollars)

Rensselaer Advantage Dollars is a campus declining balance account that you may purchase at any time. It carries over from year to year and ends only at the time you leave Rensselaer. It allows you the ability for use not only in Hospitality Services locations but also in areas such as the campus vending machines, the box office at Houston Field House & East Campus Athletic Village, the Commons Mailroom as well as with off campus participating vendors. Food Allergies and Special Needs

We work diligently to meet the needs of students with food allergies or special dietary restrictions. At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, our Registered Dietitian, Kimberly Mayer is available to meet with students to help address their concerns. We feature a hot entrée station, Simple Servings, that removes the Top 8 allergens from all products. My Zone, a gluten-free, peanut and tree-nut free pantry, also provides safe, appetizing choices for those with special dietary needs. Visit the Food Allergy page for additional information.
